Alan is an accomplished architect and designer with over twenty five years of experience.
He is experienced in working with complex briefs and on sites in sensitive planning contexts, specifically in the London boroughs and the south-east of England. He has built up a large body of work in the adaptation and refurbishment of existing and historic buildings and has a leading role in the housing and residential development team at pla. As a skilled draughtsman, he actively participates across all work stages, bringing with him a focussed attention to detail.
Alan read architecture at University College, London and the University of Cambridge, where he received a commendation for his post-graduate Diploma. He has designed and completed award-winning projects in the UK, Europe and the US. These include corporate headquarters, performing arts, media and broadcast facilities and private residences.
He has previously worked for noted design practices, Zaha Hadid and Fletcher Priest. In 2001, he helped establish the UK office of global architects HKS. As the joint Managing Principal, he was responsible for the corporate and hospitality teams and, in 2011, his design for Avon Cosmetics European Headquarters was selected as the British Council for Offices national award winner for Best Corporate Workplace.
