pla have recently submitted for planning for the substantial refurbishment and extension of Fairacres, a community which caters for those with physical and visual disabilites, located in north London. It is owned and managed by Jewish Blind & Disabled and pla have been working in depth with them to develop the program and the design  for what will be a fully wheelchair accessible environment.

The 40 bed community, which was established in the 1980’s, occupies a long narrow site of a former listed villa. The project comprises the demolition of the 1980’s buildings to the rear with new, extended accommodation which is designed at the forefront of accessible design, with all new apartments as well as the common parts being fully wheelchair accessible.
